Uma Damle is a photographer and filmmaker who lives and works between Zurich and India. She took to the theatrical narrative of fashion photography while pursuing a bachelors degree in Fashion Communication at the National Institute of Fashion Technology.
In 2015, she was awarded two prestigious national scholarships to study a fully funded MA in Fashion Photography at the London College of Fashion. Uma draws her aesthetics from the paintings of Old Masters like Raphael and Rembrandt as well 20th century Indian artists like Amrita Sher-gil and Hemen Mazumdar.
She seeks to create images that are honest, subversive, enigmatic and nostalgic while not being overly verbose.Uma is also a trained Hindustani Classical singer, a writer and a drawing enthusiast. She speaks five languages (three fluently) and is currently learning German.
