Pranoy Sarkar is a photographer and art director who has worked with brands such as Rajesh Pratap Singh, Good Earth, Gaurav Gupta, Rohit Bal, Tarun Tahiliani, Torani, Raw Mango, Payal Khandwala, AMPM, Ekaya and SuketDhir.
A Communication Design graduate from the National Institute of Fashion, New Delhi, Pranoy is known for his arresting and experimental imagery. Having first dabbled in travel photography, Pranoy’s desire to create pictures from scratch brought him to the world of fashion. While in college, he was mentored by designer Rajesh Pratap Singh, who has been a big influence even as Pranoy carved a niche for himself as a fashion photographer.
Sensing a gap between a concept and how it was translated into a final image, Pranoy began to take on the role of art direction. As an art director, he is meticulous, calculating his creative process from vision to execution in extraordinary detail to bring stories and brands to life.
While Pranoy works with diverse concepts for every campaign, his powerful images are defined by a sense of deliberate minimalism. He uses colour, the play of light and shadow, and the placement of lines and angles to expertly craft visual narratives. Pranoy draws from the geometry of architectural spaces and the environment to create stunning images that have a surreal, ethereal quality.
Ekavalli is pleased to be able to commission the Antar Anga series with Pranoy, with the Intersect photo essay launching via Kanakavalli on its Instagram feed on 4th March 2022.
